The Shetland pony is a very robust pony race: it is not by chance that the trunk is solid and massive (typical feature in working animals) while the limbs are short and stubby.
It reaches a height of 90/100 cm and a weight of 150/180 kg.
Distribution: Native to the Shetland Islands, Orkney and the whole of northern Scotland.
Feeding: pasture grass and hay, with possible feed supplements.
